Americans: Australia, New Zealand.

Sorry guys, you really do get the short end of the stick here with such limited options.  But hey, I’m Australian and it’s a bloody fantastic place and well worth the trip!  For all other countries (including Canada), you’ll need to get sponsored or qualify as a ‘skilled worker or professional’ to get a work visa.

When researching the Australian visa, note that there are 2 similar-sounding visas – ‘Working Holiday Visa’ and the ‘Work AND Holiday Visa: Subclass 462’.  American citizens are only eligible for the Work and Holiday visa.  See the Australian Immigration website for more details.
